COMBINITION OF PHARMACOLOGICAL AND SURGICAL MANAGEMENT FOR PATHOLOGICAL FRACTURE OF MANDIBLE ASSOCIATED WITH CHRONIC SUPPURATIVE OSTEOMYELITIS - A CASE REPORT

Osteomyelitis of maxillofacial skeleton is a rare condition in recent times. The combination of antibiotics and surgical exploration is effective in the treatment of chronic suppurative osteomyelitis (CSO). This case report describes the successful treatment of CSO with pathologic fracture of the mandible in a 63-year-old male. Treatment included a pre-surgical antibiotics followed by sequestrectomy and rigid fixation of right side of the mandible. Post operative wound break down occured which takes up to 1 and half month to heal with the antibiotic coverage. We have used combination of 3 antibiotics in this case for 15 days followed by single antibiotic for 1 month. Outcome of this case was satisfactory without recurrence
