AN INTERDENTAL FOREIGN BODY IMPACTION: A CASE REPORT
Abstract
A 29 year old female residing in Halol visited the Department of Prosthodontics. The patient got her root canal treatment done and desired the placement of a crown wrt 16. On examination of the area around 16, it was found that there was hard tissue fragment present interdentally wrt 16, 17. The patient was subsequently taken to the Department of Periodontics. On taking a radiograph, it was found that there was a vertical bone defect wrt 16, 17. Subsequently, periodontal surgery was done, the hard tissue fragment was removed and Demineralized freeze-dried bone allograft was placed with PRF (Platelet Rich Fibrin). The hard tissue fragment was then sent to the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology. The histological sections revealed bony trabeculae with normal architecture. The patient was then referred back to the Department of Prosthodontics for the placement of the crown after 3 months. Subsequently, the crown was prepared for 16 using Functionally Generated Path (FGP). After 6 months, follow-up was done. It was found that the bone defect had resolved and the patient was satisfied with the treatment.
