Abstract

Rehabilitation of congenital/ acquired maxillary defect is challenging. Various surgical and prosthetic treatment options are available for a maxillectomy patient to choose from. Treatment selection and prognosis depends upon the size, extent, location, general health and economical condition of the patient. Prosthetic rehabilitation could be either by removable or by fixed prosthesis and aims at separating oral and nasal/ antral cavities, to restore normal form and function. This case report presents a simple and easy technique of fabricating a cost effective removable hollow bulb obturator prosthesis using heat polymerized polymethyl methacrylate resin and incorporation of soft liner instead of a metal retentive clasp arm that was interfering with the path of insertion.
