Abstract

Artocarpus hetrophyllus is a species belong to family Moraceae and commonly known as langka. The Artocarpus hetrophyllus Lam. is a species of tree of mulberry family and also known as is a large, evergreen tree. The specie Artocarpus heterophyllus Lam is assumed to have origin in India and it is found as a cultivated tree in all tropical countries. It is native to part s of south and southeast Asia,and is believed to have originated in the southwestern rain forest of Indian sub continents ,in present day Goa ,kerala, odisha ,tamil nadu sri lanka ,coastal Karnataka and maha rastra . The jack fruit tree is the largest tree-borne fruit as much as 35 mg in weight, 90cm in length, and 50 cm in diameter. The fruits are of dietary use and are an important source of carbohydrates, protein, fats, mineral, and vitamins. The wood is a very durable timber and is used in the preparation of furniture the various part of plant are attributed with traditional and folk system of medicine to treat a range of ailments. Anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, anticarcinogenic, antifungal, antineoplastic, hypoglycemics, wound healing effects and causes a transient decrease in the sexual activity
